Greetings from New York City. Some of you already know me as Foxy from other forums we have shared membership on for several years. Others here I'm looking forward to meeting and getting to know.
I'm awaiting approval so I understand it will take a bit of time before this little fox is released from the cage to run free through the threads, but it's all good. Patience is a virtue right? LOL

Hi foxy! Just checking in after being away for a few days. Welcome to the forum. I think I've seen your nic before on Smo's board and wondered whether it was the other Foxy - or Foxfire we might have to start calling him, lol. You might have seen my nic before - Stellar Blue? Unfortunately I've not always got the time to post over there these days.

We're all pretty conservative types here foxy. But that doesn't stop us from disagreeing on lots of topics - especially gun control as you will see. The difference here is that we all get along and respect everyone's opinions - so we just agree to disagree. Unfortunately on some boards - especially those with a lot of leftists, the politics can become so polarising. But we're pretty laid back on most things around here.
My son and his wife and two toddlers were in the US last November and they loved New York the most on their trip. Of course the fires in California didn't help! His wife has been there several times but it was my son's first visit. In fact they had planned to go back again this year. But the fires definitely put them off a bit so they decided to travel to the outback instead and tour the Red Centre which is central Australia. They're on their way right now.

I have lived my entire life in New York City @aurora. I'm sad to say it has gone downhill from years of Democrat control. The current Mayor being the worst yet and he wants a chance to do for the rest of the nation what he's done for New York City - God help us all!
The best years in my lifetime were the Rudy Giuliani years. As Mayor, he cleaned up Manhattan and restored law, order and civility, but was attacked by the left every step of the way for his efforts. The City is still an attractive place for tourists to visit with lots to see and do. But as a homeowner, the middle class is being taxed right out of our homes and out of the City. I'm planning my escape from New York in the not too distant future. Let the insane, homeless, lawless and illegals have it - and they will.
Anyway, sorry for the diatribe, I am glad your loved ones got to enjoy their visit.

I can understand that foxy. I feel much the same about Sydney - and we have a conservative state govt! It's the rampant immigration, especially from India, China, Africa and the Middle East that's destroying our city. It seems alien at times. There's so much imported crime and travelling anywhere takes ages unless you use all the toll roads which cost an arm and a leg. Fortunately I'm over the northside of the Harbour Bridge in what the leftists call "white flight" territory. At least we are still predominantly Anglo over here.
Ah yes .... was that the "zero tolerance" laws? We need a bit of that down here! One of my best friend's sister lives in NYC as does another's son. She has just been visiting him to see her first grandchild. He works in finance and has been there for 8 years and married a girl from Minnesota. So no plans to leave. I'm sorry it's got to the state you want to leave but sometimes I feel the same. However at the prices on the northern beaches I'd never be able to buy back in if I wanted to come back! And of course the grandkids love visiting because of the beach. No problem foxy - we all like to have our say about the state of things. Definitely it's a different world from the one we grew up in! As for the kids - they'll be back! You know one of the reasons they went to NY last November was to see the Brian Setzer Orchestra's Christmas show. And my son who is a real Stray Cats fan from way back wanted to see the Stray Cats show this year in NY. But they decided to buy an off road caravan and take the kids to the outback instead. But when they return it will be to the same hotel - the Beacon where so many Australians stay. It was full of them last November!
